Growth is the Goal but it Creates Issues

If you’re running a business that’s growing fast, you’re probably experiencing something unwelcomed, ISSUES.   The bigger the revenue, the more problems seem to show up.  New customers bring complexity.  New hires create communication gaps and require additional layers of management.  Decisions that used to be simple for you now have become complex and unruly.   Suddenly, you’re dealing with more issues than ever before.

This is normal. Growth creates issues and if you want to grow, you asked for it!

The real challenge isn’t the presence of problems it’s how you and your team handle them. Most entrepreneurial companies talk about issues constantly, but very few actually solve them. The same problems show up in meeting after meeting, just wearing different disguises. That’s exhausting for you as the owner and frustrating for your team.

This is exactly where EOS changes the game.

EOS introduces a simple, powerful discipline called the Issues Solving Track or IDS which stand for Identify, Discuss, Solve.  It’s designed to help leadership teams stop side stepping around problems and start eliminating them at the root cause. IDS isn’t about brainstorming or venting. It’s about discipline, focus and accountability.

So how can growing companies with expanding leadership teams handle their issues?

It starts with Identify. At this stage of growth, many teams struggle to separate symptoms from real issues. For example, “missed deadlines” might feel like the problem, but the root issue could be unclear ownership, an overloaded role, or a broken process. IDS teaches your team to slow down just enough to identify the real issue, not the symptom.

Next, we Discuss. This is where many teams get uncomfortable. Real discussion requires active listening, being open to other points of view and to be honest with the team.  EOS creates a safe, structured environment for these conversations, so issues get debated productively instead of avoidance. When your leadership team truly discusses an issue without ego or defensiveness clarity emerges quickly.

Finally, Solve. This is where focus and accountability return. Solving means deciding on an action plan, not punting, not tabling, not assigning vague next steps. The team agrees on a clear solution, assigns ownership, and someone takes a To Do. Once solved, the issue comes off the list for good.

The power of IDS shows up when it’s practiced consistently inside a weekly Level 10 Meeting. Instead of meetings filled with updates and status reports, your leadership team spends focused time solving the most important issues facing the business. Over time, you’ll notice fewer surprises, faster decisions, and a calmer operating rhythm.

For a growth-minded owner you stop feeling like you’re being bombarded with unsolvable issues.  Instead, the business gets stronger every week.  Bottlenecks disappear. Discipline, Focus and

Accountability improve. Your team gains confidence because they see real progress happening.

That’s the power of EOS and the Issues Solving Track.
